FREE Classroom Response System Options

I love using classroom response systems with students and teachers. Luckily the districts I have worked in have had them available to teachers. Not every district or school is that lucky. To those who do not access to a classroom response system, I have some great FREE resources for you. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to send me a message at www.teacherplayground.com

1. Plickers - If you do not have access to a classroom response system and your district/school does not support Bring Your Own Device, then this is great for you. It is very user friendly and requires very little to use them. All you need is one smart device and you are good to go. I also love that this app is supported on iTunes and Google Play. You can display real time data for all your students, by pulling the information up on your computer or displaying your smart device.

How it Works:
  1. Each student gets a unique barcode – a paper clicker.
  2. Students answer questions by showing their barcodes to the teacher's smartphone. The teachers does a quick scan of the classroom (this amazes me).
  3. The teacher gets a real-time bar graph and the data is stored individually by student.

2. PingPong Smart Clickers - If you do not have access to a classroom response system and your district/school does support Bring Your Own Device then you are in for a real treat. I love this wonderful tool! If you district/school supports Bring Your Own Device then you are in for a real treat. The set up is very easy because as a teachers you set up an account and have your students download the app and enter your class code and you are ready to go. You can ask many different types of questions and even have them submit drawings. This app is supported on iTunes and Google Play and you can show your real time data by displaying your comp muter screen or smart device.

  1. I absolutely love this concept and its potential ease of use. I have the app on my iPhone5, understand how to generate the student answer cards, and know how to set up the quizzes. However after reading all the app information and visiting their website, I just couldn't find anything about how to acquire and project the results. I'm at a loss regarding this component. Please help clarify.

  2. Both of the apps are also available on the computer. You can go to their website, log into your account and project the results or you can hook your smart device up to an interactive whiteboard.

For PingPong go to http://classpp.com/ and click on Get Started on Website
For Plickers go to https://www.plickers.com/ and click on Sign In on the top right

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
