United Streaming Finds

It never fails to amaze me at the things I stumble on by accident when I am doing a search at United Streaming.  United Streaming is an AMAZING site with a digital video library and other resources. Most of the videos have lesson plans with them as well. You do have to have a subscription, but it is so worth it. I honestly don't know what I would do without it. It is the first place I search for resources when I'm getting ready to plan for a unit/theme/topic. Here is a list of some great resources, just type the keywords in the search box. I really wish there was a listing of all these so that I wouldn't just find things by accident. Maybe if everybody shares some of their tips/finds in the comments, we could get a kind of database of resources! That would be great!

Keywords:
Liberty's Kids - great series of social studies videos about the Revolutionary period. about 30 mins each
Rabbit Ears - great children's books, about 30 mins each
Weston Woods - great children's books from Scholastic, varying lengths
Bill Nye Stuff Happens
Bill Nye Greatest Inventions
Bill Nye Greatest Discoveries
The Magic School Bus
Reading Rainbow
Animated Hero Classics
Holiday Facts and Fun - about 15 mins, info. on holidays

They have also had some great live virtual field trips this year. I've participated in the virtual field trip to Google to watch the doodlers and the one called "From Farm to Table" about egg farmers. Both were really great.  United Streaming/Discovery Ed is definitely a resource worth spending money on!

  2. Great list!! My students also enjoy Maya and Miguel and the Time Warp Trio. I can't find the Rabbit Ears series you mentioned-- any ideas of what else I can search for to find it?

    1. Not sure why you can't find it - I just typed in Rabbit Ears in the search box and the first one that comes up is Rabbit Ears: The Tailor of Gloucester. Maybe try again and hopefully you will find it! It is a great series.

  3. I'm lucky that my district provides Discovery Streaming. I love the ability to watch a clip from a longer video. Sometimes I just need 3 minutes. I love that you can download the videos so you're not counting on the streaming to work too!

    I'm your newest follower!

  4. I'm going to share your blog with my teachers so they will hopefully use Discovery Education more. We are starting our last nine weeks and I had a teacher ask yesterday how to log in--she hasn't used it all year--UGGGG!
