Hello from Teaching...My Calling!

I am so excited for the opportunity to contribute to Technology Tailgate!  I am passionate about using technology with my students.  In fact, I am a self proclaimed tech nerd!

To introduce myself, I am Cara Whitehead.  I teach 4th grade at Carlisle Elementary School in Boaz, Alabama.  I also serve as technology coordinator and webmaster for my school.  Outside of teaching, I work with JogNog in the area of social media promotions.  JogNog is an online competitive learning game with questions based on the Common Core Standards.  As students answer questions, they build a virtual city. The more questions answered, the bigger the city.  I have also been trained as a Promethean ActivInstructor and serve on the Promethean Social Media Council.  I am the author of the blog, Teaching...My Calling.  On my blog, I share lots of technology tips, sites, and tools to use in your classroom with your students.  You can also find a presentation I created titled "Integrating Technology Into Your Classroom" on Teacher's Notebook.  I am an avid Twitterer, @WhiteheadsClass, and Edmodo user.  In fact, I am the creator of the Edmodo group, TeacherShare.  Currently, I am attending the University of Alabama to obtain an M.A. in Educational Leadership.  Aside from all this, I am married to Anthony.  We have a seventeen year old son and 14 year old daughter and a sweet kitty, Allie.

I look forward to sharing the many technology projects we use in our classroom.  Until then, take a moment to check some out on our class website.  It's going to be a great time!
